Because it insinuates that you think they stink and need to take a bath.
They take it the wrong way. They may think that your tring to tell them they smell or it is something they don't use!
because you bought them from the dollar store
maybe they think that you are thinking tht they stink. lol
cause most of the time it is a ';sucky'; gift.....that shows little thought. : )

They could prefer to pick out their own bath products. Just because you like a smell from say ';Bath and Body Works'; doesn't mean they will. Unless they are fanatics about the stuff and you know what they like, you should stay away from buying bath products as gifts.
They probably think you are trying to say somethnig like they smeel when you give them bath stuff
