i can finally give my 2 week year old a bath , i been told to just use water, the baby's skin is too sensitive when the baby is like 2 or 3 months old then u can use body wash , so wats ur opinion and what did u doShould i use any bath products on my newborn?
I used Gerber Grins and Giggles on my kids when i could start baths after the umbilical cord was off. You can also use Johnson %26amp; Johnson baby products or just plain Dove soap :)Should i use any bath products on my newborn?
Ignore using water, it doesn't get your baby clean, just rinsed off. The lavendar baby wash (you can get store brand if you don't want to pay a fortune) is super great, it helps them sleep. If you don't clean them off, they will get rashes from the breast milk/formula they have spit up and diaper rashes from the urine and feces.
What I did was sponge bath with warm water and a pea size dot of Johnsons lavendar wash until my son's cord stump fell off. As newborns though you don't have to bathe them every single day or they will get dry skin. Be sure to use a gentle infants lotion (scent free if possible) after you do bathe, even sponge baths. You can also use a little baby oil on their skin to keep it from drying out. some people even use a little olive oil. You won't need a lot.
When my son was about a month old I started to bathe him in his baby tub and I used about a dime size squirt of Johnsons baby wash for him. I gave him a bath about every other day to every 3 days until he was closer to 3 months old and then he's had one every night before bed since. He's 14 months old now and in the regular tub. Until he was about 11 months old I also used a gentle baby lotion after baths as needed to keep his skin from drying out. At 11 months I don't need to use lotion as much on him because he has pretty good skin that doesn't have a drying problem. I do use it in cooler weather though or when it's been really dry outside to keep it soft though. To wash my son's hair as a newborn I didn't really do anything but a warm damp washcloth twice a week on his scalp to keep it clean. I started to wash his hair 2-3 times a week when he was about 3 months old using a ';scoop'; that came with his tub. I just used his body wash in a pea size amount and a scoop of warm water to wash and one to rinse. In the summer (May - September where we live) I washed his hair every other day the same way and every 2-3 days other times during the year. Even now that he's older I may only wash his hair a couple times a week unless we've been outside all sweaty from play or really grungy from our day then it will get washed in addition to that. My son has curly hair so when I do wash it I have to work through some ';no more tangles'; spray after towel drying to keep the frizz and tangles out of it otherwise he looks like a shrub! LOL!!
warm water and a towel are good for cleaning the baby. You dont really need any products.
Our son had severe eczema and had to be cleaned with Cetaphil cleanser daily. He could not take a regular bath until he was 2 years old.
Johnson and Johnson gave my baby a rash and someone else I know had it happen too
Use something natural like California Baby or Burts Bees babywash with no harsh chemicals in it.
And yes you can definitely use babywash now
you can use baby wash in the hospital they use soap after delivery baby wash was made for their skin i use johnson and johnson from day one
if you want to, just dont use soaps with fragrance or dyes. I use Aveeno. Iwouldnt recommend johnsons or huggies because it can make newborn skin very dry and/or rashy
johnson n johnson
It is perfectly fine to use Baby body wash made by Johnson and Johnson or other brands that are similar. I used it on both my babies!
Just stick with water just in case.
Use a natural wash such as Angel babies or Burt's Bees.
